The firm now known as Nixon Wenger was established on March 20, 1973. Since that time, the firm has expanded by attracting leading legal practitioners.
Today, Nixon Wenger is a full service law firm with 20 lawyers and over 60 dedicated support staff. We are large enough to have attracted a cross-section of experienced lawyers, yet small enough to provide a high level of personal service to our clients. Our clients range from government agencies and large corporations to families and individuals, and our lawyers pride themselves on providing the same high level of efficient, cost-effective and professional service to all of them.
At Nixon Wenger, we understand the complicated situation that an accident in a foreign country creates and the road blocks that seem to hold back any sort of recourse. We are here for you to overcome those roadblocks and dedicate our time to your needs to see you through your situation and reach a result. Our lawyers are committed to maintaining an open dialogue with clients at all times. With a broad range of experience and expertise, our 19 lawyers have a history of providing workable solutions to the legal problems found within the Mexican resorts. We are able to aid you wherever you are at any time, no matter what country.
Here are a few examples of recent cases where Nixon Wenger was able to help those that were injured while visiting Mexico:
Case #1
A newly married husband and wife arrived in Cancun on their honeymoon. They checked into their five star hotel and that evening decided to stroll around the resort grounds. The top landing of a set of concrete steps that led down towards the beach was covered in water from a nearby foot washing station. As the area was not well lit, they were unaware that the landing was slippery. The wife slipped and tumbled down the stairs and seriously injured her back in the fall.
They were continually ignored by the resort management when they attempted to deal directly with them.
Upon their return to Canada, they contacted Nixon Wenger, and through a mediation process that took place in the United States, they were able to negotiate a very successful settlement with the hotels' insurers.
Case #2
A couple checked into a five star resort in Mexico that mainly consisted of cottage-type accommodation. In order to navigate around the resort, each guest was supplied with a bicycle. The wife was riding her bicycle on a resort path, when a "people mover" clipped her handlebars while passing, essentially striking her from behind. She suffered a severely broken wrist on her dominant hand in the fall.
Nixon Wenger was able to successfully negotiate a large settlement with the resorts' insurers through mediation in Florida.
